报告内容:

Within both the modern science and the Eastern philosophy, we realized that all natural phenomena in the world of change and transformation are dynamically interrelated. Especially, emphasizing movement and change, Chinese philosophy has developed the concept of dynamic patterns, the so-called Trigrams and Hexagrams, into I-Ching () that is the oldest Chinese book (~ 5000 years old, the bible of Chinese philosophy) containing an explanation of the laws of the universe by which everything is governed, and carries explicit directions on how men should conduct themselves in order to remain continually in harmony within these laws. In this talk, after reviewing the short history, the basic structure and the philosophical meaning of the I-Ching, some relationships between I-Ching and modern physics will be pointed out, and a simple prescription for the future science will be suggested.

报告人简介:

Dr. Qiang is a Professor of Physics, and a core-faculty in Nuclear Energy Program at the Idaho National Laboratory - University of Idaho. He is the Fellow of Idaho Academy of Science and was chairman of IAS (2011-2013). He received MS degree 1985 at the Harbin Institute of Technology and Chinese Academy of Space Technology, and Ph.D. degree 1997 at the University of Freiburg, Germany. Dr. Qiang’s research focuses on nanomagnetism and magnetic nanomaterials. His expertise includes: synthesis of monodispersive nanoclusters and nanocluster-assembled composites; characterization of magnetic and optical properties as well as transport behavior of the nanomaterials by conductivity, optics, susceptibility and theoretical investigation. He has utilized magnetic nanomaterials for nuclear energy in spent nuclear fuel recycling and radiation detection nanotechnology as well as environmental and biomedical applications. Besides scientific research, he has a hobby to study the ancient Chinese philosophy connected to modern science and technology.
